Heather’s Story.

In the summer of 2016, just after Heather’s freshman year of college, she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Instead of going back to school that fall, she spent months in and out of the hospital receiving chemotherapy treatments. Due to the treatment, Heather was immunocompromised and forced to isolate herself. She lost her hair. Just a year later, Heather relapsed. She had to do it all over again. In 2017, Heather received a stem cell transplant from an anonymous donor to cure her leukemia and is now over 5 years cancer free. She ultimately learned a lot from the experience and wanted to share her story through “Great White Lies.”
